Collection: A. Schild

A. Schild, often abbreviated as AS, was a prominent Swiss watch movement manufacturer that played a significant role in the watchmaking industry during the 20th century. Founded in 1896 by Adolf Schild in Grenchen, Switzerland, the company specialized in producing high-quality ébauches (unfinished watch movements) that were supplied to numerous watchmakers, including well-known brands. A. Schild became renowned for its reliable and versatile mechanical movements, such as the popular AS 1130, AS 1686, and AS 2063, which powered a wide range of timepieces from affordable watches to mid-tier luxury models. At its peak, the company was one of the largest producers of watch movements in Switzerland, contributing to the country’s reputation as a global leader in horology. In 1979, A. Schild merged with other Swiss manufacturers to form ETA SA, which continues to dominate the industry under the Swatch Group. Today, vintage watches featuring A. Schild movements are prized by collectors for their historical significance and craftsmanship.
